Postdoctoral research fellow (f/m/d)
The Hospital of the University of Munich, Germany, is one of the largest and most competitive university hospitals in Germany and Europe. 48 specialized hospitals, departments and institutions harbouring excellent research and education provide patient care at the highest medical level with approximately 10.000 employees.
The Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD) is looking for an
Postdoctoral research fellow (f/m/d) and PhD studentships in single-cell genomic analysis
Your area of responsibility:
We are looking for an exceptional candidate for a postdoctoral position to study checkpoints of brain diseases using single-cell genomics. We also have computational PhD studentships. The successful candidates will join the Systems Neuroscience–Cell Diversity group (https://www.isd-research.de/gokce-lab ) at the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD), Munich (www.isd-muc.de).
Our lab is located at the brand new and fully equipped ISD building in the biomedical science campus and is a member of both the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center (SFB-TRR 274) titled “Checkpoints of Central Nervous System Recovery” and also the “SyNergy” Cluster of Excellence. We use single-cell genomics to reveal cellular responses involved in maintaining healthy brain and repairing damages. The goal of the postdoctoral position is to find druggable cellular checkpoints after brain damage that are critical for functional recovery.
We accept applications from candidates who have a PhD and an interest in single-cell genomic analysis of the brain. Desired skills and experiences are:
- PhD in neuroscience, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields
- Good programming skills (R, shell scripts, python)
- Experience in working with next generation sequencing data
Postdoc will be employed by the Klinikum der Universität Müchen KUM. The position is intended for the SFB TRR 274, which is funded for 4 years. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, certificates, and doctoral degree, a summary of the previous work, a letter of motivation, and names and contact information of 2 references. Please send your application as one PDF-document to Dr. Ozgun Gokce.
