PROMISE Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellows selected

The BMFTR funded LMU Advanced Clinician Scientist Program for Comprehensive Neuroscience (PROMISE) has selected four candidates – including ISD member Anna Kopczak – to advance interdisciplinary research. The program supports clinician scientists through protected research time, mentoring, and long-term career development, bridging clinical practice and innovative research.

The PROMISE program at LMU Munich supports advanced clinician scientists combining clinical practice with independent neuroscience research. Four selected fellows are featured: Dr. Sarah Häbe, whose ECLIPSE project investigates central nervous system lymphoma and its immune-privileged tumor environment; PD Dr. Anna Kopczak, who develops mechanism-based carotid plaque imaging to improve stroke risk stratification; Dr. Carla Palleis, who investigates precision biomarkers for the early diagnosis, monitoring, and staging of progressive supranuclear palsy; and PD Dr. Franziska Thaler, who studies autoreactive B cells in autoimmune encephalitis. Their projects aim to advance disease understanding, improve diagnostics, and support more precise, effective patient care.

The second selection round will be 2027.
