Young Investigator Award for Jule Filler

European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2026, Maastricht
ISD researcher Jule Filler received the Young Investigator Award at the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2026 in Maastricht for her work "Early plasma NfL predicts cognitive outcomes 5 years after stroke"

In a collaborative study entitled "Early plasma NfL predicts cognitive outcomes 5 years after stroke" and conducted in collaboration with Steffen Tiedt (Principal investigator at the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research), Jule Filler assessed whether neurofilament light chain (NfL) measured shortly after stroke can predict long-term cognitive impairment. Using data from 558 patients in the prospective multicenter DEMDAS study, Jule Filler showed that early NfL levels predict cognitive outcomes over five years and provide prognostic information beyond clinical and stroke-related measures.
